Senior Accountant, Leeds office based
£45-65K + Bens
We are hiring for a small boutique advisory/accounting practice based in Leeds.
We are seeking candidates whom are experienced qualified accountants with expert knowledge in tax and accounts preparation looking to further develop their career in a more challenging role.
You will be client facing and will have to adapt to client needs by thinking out of the box with the various challenges that you may face.
Responsibilities include:
Staff and practice development
- Accounts preparation for Limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Corporation Tax compliance
- Personal tax compliance
- Dealing with Payroll and Auto Enrolment issues
- Book keeping
- Preparation of tax computation for all account’s assignments
- Monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Review of accounts files done by other members of the team
- Training clients on computerised accounting software
- Company secretarial tasks including minutes, and review of confirmation statements
- Dealing with tax queries from clients
- Dealing with queries from HMRC
- Keeping up to date with tax issues and changes, and doing your own research as necessary
- Dealing with all issues regarding new clients
- Accounting assistance and support to other members of staff
- Being a point of contact for junior team members who will seek your guidance on technical matters.
- Reporting directly to the partners and heading the office team with 8 members of staff reporting directly to you.
- Software experience using the following will be crutial:
- Iris
- Xero
- QuickBooks
- Sage
- Moneysoft Payroll Manager
- Your role will also include ensuring that efficiencies, budgets and staff control are in place and adhered to.
The Candidate:
The role is predominantly a Manager/Senior Accountant which entails reviewing accounts, Corporation & Personal Tax, and VAT for businesses with a turnover between £500k and £15m.
Experience in specialist areas such as healthcare clients, solicitors, charities, ir35 etc. would be ideal.
You will have a minimum of 8 years solid practice experience. You will be ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified and will be commercially astute and have expert knowledge of how different taxes relate and impact the client’s business.
There will be career development in which you will be on track to becoming a director within the next 5-7 years. You will be on track to build a team around you and will be managing different departments of the business.
