Our client is global manufacturing business that is part of a large Group. The Financial Accountant will be based at one of the UK sites in Burton-on-Trent that has a turnover of c. £11 million. This position has arisen because the current Financial Accountant has progressed into a role within the Group.

Accountabilities: 

The Financial Accountant will be reporting into the UK Financial Controller. The role is extremely varied and it will be a hands on role, as it involves management accountants, financial accountants, analysis and overseeing others. As part of your role you will have exposure to senior colleagues at UK and Group level, including the Managing Director. Your duties (after you have received all of the necessary training) will include, but will not be limited to:

• Preparing the monthly management accounts with analysis and commentary for the site in Burton-on-Trent, which has a turnover of c. £11 million
• Supporting with budgeting and forecasting
• Preparing and reconciling quarterly VAT returns
• Assisting with year end external audit, internal audits and corporation tax requirements
• National statistics reporting
• Managing 1 team member in the finance team
• Overseeing the purchase ledger function
• Managing the stock costing system including inventory costing and valuation, production variance analysis, physical stock takes and overhead absorption calculations
• Preparing the monthly payroll for the external payroll provider

To be considered for the role you must have:

• experience of working in finance
• experience of some of the above duties (but you do not need experience of all of the above duties or experience of working in manufacturing, as our client is prepared to invest in the successful candidate and provide necessary training)
• experience of producing monthly management accounts
• good Excel skills (v look ups and pivot tables

We will consider candidates who are studying CIMA, ACCA and AAT and qualified by experience candidates.
